Almost all the key-ways in the machine shop are cut by Key-way broach. Both internal and external key-ways can be cut by these broaches. Internal key-ways normally require a slotted bushing or a horn and the broach is guided by the slot itself. Variety of key-way shapes can be achieved by the broaching tool, eg. Round ended, flat ended etc.
